I have a friend who has told me over and over that she doesn’t ‘do’ (need or want) love. When deep down inside of her is a girl who cries of love and acceptance. It’s really sad cause she almost doesn’t know what to do when someone really loves her. Love is often a part of what we talk about and we talk almost everyday so love has been in my thoughts quite a bit.
Inside all of us is this need for love and acceptance. We desperately want to be accepted. Not so much for what we do but for who we are. Somehow we get it confused though. We think what we do affects how worthy we are of love. Next thing you know, we are doing all kinds of crazy things to be loved. We dress a certain way, buy certain things, decide we like ‘cool’ hobbies, etc.
What we do should have very little to do with how we are loved by humans. What we do has nothing to do with how we are loved by God.
Just think about it a little. You have a friend that you love. That friend is far from perfect but you still love that person. You love them because they are them. In a way your friend is made perfect because of your love. It’s not like you overlook their flaws, it’s just that it doesn’t matter what they do, you will still love them.
Ok, that’s human love.
What about God’s love?
His love is perfect. It is hundreds and hundreds of times deeper than what we know in human love. The coolest thing of all is that His love does perfect us. He sees our flaws and loves us anyway, but He doesn’t just leave it at that, He takes time to perfect us. Buffs off the rough edges of our soul. All the while loving us, just as we are, just as we were, just as we will be.
Celebrate love. It's too beautiful to ignore.

I love how you shared that "God's love *perfects* us." =) That's beautiful!
