‘I love you.’
Three of the most powerful words of all time.
‘I love you.’
It changes the way you think. The way you act. The way you live.
We all know that there is far more to love than just those three little words. There are actions that must put meaning behind those words. We demand that love is proven to us.
This brings me to the greatest love story of all time. Without further ado, the story begins.
Darkness as far as your eye can see. Darkness, and the drip, drip of water.
Light. Blinding light.
Sea.
Tree.
Grass.
Star.
Shark.
Dog.

Cow.
Human.
Humans.
These Humans experience fellowship with the Creator like no other creature. They are given dominion of all created things. Unfortunately, these humans betray the Divine law.  Darkness returns, death enters life. The beauty of fellowship is destroyed.
The Father weeps. He longs for His creatures to be redeemed and for the restoration of the fellowship. He searches Heaven for one who can bring about that restoration. He searches and finds one who wishes to go. His Son, his perfect and beautiful Son willingly leaves His Home to become their redemption and restoration.
The Creator becomes the creature. A marvel. Heaven stands in awe.
The Creator is rejected by his creatures. He comes to rescue and finds a race who does not need Him. He is beaten, mocked, scorned, hated by the ones He loves. Their sin which He carries has separated Him from His Father. He dies a cruel death at the hands of those He came to redeem. The Creator DIES. He dies for his creation. Heaven weeps in agony.
But the story is not over. It does not end in death. It ends in life. For the Creator now holds the keys of life and death in his hands. He is resurrected. We can be made whole because He took our sins for us. Our fellowship with our Maker is restored. We are loved beyond all reason. Beyond all imagination.
I know this story. I have known since I was little, and yet, I have the audacity to look at the heavens and demand that my Creator’s love be proven. I say He who died for me, could not possibly love me. I say I cannot trust a God who gave his very life for me. Of all absurdity!
What more could He do to prove His love for me?
What more could He do to be ‘worthy’ of my trust?
He gave everything for me. Why do I withhold my life from Him?
‘I love you,’ He whispers, ‘I love you with an everlasting love. My love is true. It will not end. I love you.’
