:: Church? ::

Today I have a question for you. I'm pretty sure that not very many people keep up with my blog but for those of you who do. . .  here's a question or two or possible more.

1. What is Church supposed to look like? (not talking the church as a whole but a group of people which make up a church)

2. What is the difference between 'doing' Church and 'being' the Church?

3. How do we live that (answer to q. 2) out?

These questions stem from a lot of things I've been hearing and a lot of thoughts I've been thinking. It seems like most of us are confused as to what church really is supposed to be. So I'm asking these questions in hopes of getting at least some feedback. The answers don't have to be deep or totally thought through. I just want to hear some other peoples beliefs and thoughts. Please don't be afraid to share!!!!

First off, I keep up with your blog, but as for answering deep questions, I have not had time for that lately. Thus it has taken me this long to get here to formulate a reply.

1. Well I think church [as in the people] should look like: God's people being 'extensions' of Jesus Christ, so to speak. Being His hands, feet, heartbeat and eyes to the world around them. Showing compassion, living what true Christianity really is. I feel like this is a long answer.

2. well we *are* the Church. ['we' being those who have believed on the name of Jesus Christ and have been saved by the blood of the Lamb] So therefore, *being* the church is actually living, doing, breathing Jesus Christ. Being who He has called us to be. 'Doing' church to me sounds more like if I just went to church every week, and even did some things just because I'm 'supposed' to rather than letting living for Jesus be my LIFE. 'Being' seems to be actually your life, while 'doing' seems like it is only 'part of' your life. If you get what I mean. Am I complicated?

3. Obey God. Beg Him to give us His eyes, feet, hands, heart, to do His bidding. Be faithful in every single thing, big AND small. Just follow Jesus, love Jesus, serve Jesus, live Jesus and share Jesus every moment of your life.

Hmm. I don't know if this makes any sense. You can let me know if I've caused any confusion. But it was good for me to write it out...

what if the church was made up of wounded, healing, growing, serving, loving, redeemed, selfless warriors of truth?

I haven't gathered many deep thoughts on the subject. I just had to think of that Casting Crowns song, "...if we are the Body
Why aren't His arms reaching
Why aren't His hands healing
Why aren't His words teaching
And if we are the Body
Why aren't His feet going
Why is His love not showing them there is a way
There is a way..." It is my personal opinion that way too often the church does not act like they are the 'body of Christ.' Or should I say too often I am not doing my part of being the body of Christ. sorry I did not specifically address any of your questions.
